ReLife4PCBA
Project Code: 101212853 — LIFE24-ENV-IT-RELIFE4PCBA
Project Duration: 2025–2027
Funding Body: LIFE Programme (EU) – non-repayable co-financing of €1.1 million
ReLife4PCBA: The Circular System for Smart Electronic Board Refurbishment.
ReLife4PCBA is the first Italian initiative to integrate advanced software technologies and manufacturing assets for digital traceability and advanced restoration of electronic boards. Funded by the European LIFE programme, the project marks a concrete step toward a circular economy in the management of electronic waste (e-waste).
Led by FAE Technology S.p.A., ReLife4PCBA offers an innovative solution to monitor and optimise the processes of repair, regeneration, and intelligent disposal of electronic boards. Through a smart digital interface, the system enables real-time data sharing and provides environmental indicators to assess the impact of each stage in the product lifecycle.
🔄 The ReLife4PCBA Cycle
Electronic boards tracked by the platform are collected in the field by end users DAZE and SOCAF, then analysed by FAE Technology to determine the next step:
🔧 Refurbishing
Managed by a specialised department within FAE Technology, equipped with advanced tools and qualified technical staff:
- Collection of recoverable e-waste
- Digital fault diagnostics
- Repairs and software/firmware updates
- Quality control
- Digital estimation of remaining useful life
♻️ Recycling
Managed by ECOMET, this phase includes:
- Collection of non-recoverable e-waste
- Sorting by material type and condition
- Processing through shredding, melting, and refining to recover valuable metals

🎯 Project Goals
- Reduce e-waste through repair and regeneration activities
- Avoid extraction of new raw materials (copper, gold, silver, palladium…)
- Lower water consumption by preventing the production of new PCBA
- Create new business opportunities and foster synergy among industry players
🌍 Our Commitment to a Sustainable Future
ReLife4PCBA is a natural extension of our commitment to tackling the challenge of electronic waste recycling and promoting a more sustainable industrial model. Thanks to the collaboration with strategic partners such as FAE Technology, DAZE and SOCAF S.p.A., we are proud to contribute to the development of concrete solutions for the circular management of PCBAs.
